Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
The Monterey Peninsula's love
affair with world-class racing traces its beginnings
to the inaugural running of the Pebble Beach Road
Races in 1950. Those sports car events quickly outgrew
the public roads of the Del Monte Forest and a beautiful
new road facility was born on November 9, 1957.
Since then, Monterey has been visited by some of
the most prestigious racers in history; Roger Penske,
Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Kenny Roberts, Bobby
Rahal, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi to name
a few. The late 60's and 1970's may be remembered
as the "Can-Am Years," but it was also
the debut of Trans Am, IMSA and AMA motorcycles.
CART Indy Car racing and Grand Prix Motorcycling
put their stamp on the track in the 80's and 90's.
More recently, the huge evolution MotoGP has created
a phenomenal global following for the track. Today,
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts five world-class
race weekends each season, with elite road racing
series from around the world visiting the Monterey
Peninsula every year..

The focus of Bernardus is to create
wines that flatter the palate and stimulate the imagination.
Our Marinus Estate Bordeaux-style red wine is the centerpiece
of Ben Pon's dream. It is complemented by Chardonnay,
Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc from cool coastal climate
vineyards. We also offer limited bottlings of small
production and vineyard designate wines, which are available

Chateau
Julien Winery
In the late 1970's, Bob and Patty Brower set out to
fulfill their dream. Originally from the East Coast,
they had a passion for wine and admired the French hospitality
encountered while traveling in Europe. They saw the
potential in Monterey County as a quality wine growing
region, and in 1982 began building what is now known
as Château Julien Wine Estate in Carmel Valley,
California. |

Heller
Estate
Heller Estate Approximately six miles
from Chateau Julien you will come to the area known
as Carmel Valley Village. You will find several wineries
here and the first one you come to is on the left, the
Heller Estate. There is much to like about this winery.
For starters, the winery’s 120 acres of vineyards
are dry-farmed and certified as 100 percent organic.
The tasting room is quaint and the servers are friendly
and unpretentious. There are some very unusual sculptures
around the gardens that are definitely worth viewing.
There is a small shaded picnic area that is a perfect
spot for lunch. If you are picnicking here, try a glass
of their delicious Merlot Rose. This wine is dry and
crisp. It is perfect for an afternoon picnic lunch.
Tasting Room Hours: 11 am – 5 pm daily Phone:
(831) 659-6220, E-mail:info@hellerestate.com

Galante
Vineyards
Galante Vineyards Galante Vineyards
is another Monterey winery located deep in the Carmel
Valley in an area difficult for visitors to reach. To
accommodate visitors, the winery recently opened a tasting
room in the city of Carmel. This is a delightful tasting
room located off Dolores between Ocean and Seventh Avenue.
Although the winery produces several varietals the emphasis
is on Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet vineyards are
located in the Cachagua region of Carmel Valley. The
hot days and cool nights enable the grapes to capture
full fruit flavors in the Cabernet grapes. Production
of the Cabernet is small in order to insure quality.
The winery produces three labels of Cabernet Sauvignon,
each distinctive. The Sauvignon Blanc is also an excellent
wine. Tasting Room Hours: 11 am – 6 pm daily Phone:

Joullian
Vineyards
Joullian Vineyards After Heller Estate,
immediately watch for Village Road and turn right and
look for the Joullian Vineyards tasting room. This winery
produces 12,000 cases per year with Chardonnay equaling
about half of their case production. They make three
unique and very tasty Chardonnays. The first is a blend
of grapes from five different vineyards in Monterey
County. The second and third Chardonnays are single
vineyard wines, one from Arroyo Seco AVA and one from
Santa Lucia AVA, both in the Monterey Country. The winery
also makes a delightful Sauvignon Blanc and estate reds,
Merlot, Zinfandel, and Cabernet. All of these wines
are from the Cachagua region of Carmel Valley. Tasting
Room Hours: 11 am – 5 pm daily Phone: (831) 659-8100,
